Listen

We talk and babble and chatter

but no one seems to listen.

Freedom of speech falls flat

if no one can hear a word.

Voices raised higher than fists;

opinions stack and crash in a din.

A cacophony of anger and animosity between

open mouths and closed minds.

But the tension is growing and

there are too many sides to name:

the left, the right, independent, apolitical.

Everyone talking over each other.

Communication is invalid

in a world without open ears.

How can ideas lead to change,

if everyone talks but no one will listen?
