Why I Write
The written word has shaped my world view for as long as I can remember. From the classic works of William Shakespeare and Jane Austen, to the modern young adult novels by writers such as John Green and Cassandra Clare; great words have been imprinted on my heart.
Writing is how I interpret my surroundings. I long to use my passion for poetry and prose to help others on their way to deciphering the world around them. By writing I can escape the world or delve deeper into it. This is where I would like to share some of the pieces I have written in my attempt to comprehend the beautiful and gritty minutiae of my life.

"Each time a child opens a book, he pushes open the gate that separates him from Elsewhere. It gives him choices. It gives him freedom. Those are magnificent, wonderfully unsafe things."
Lois Lowry
