Early morning sun breaks through the
glass –
rays of light filling the room that was dark for hours.
Awake so long that night leaves and day returns.
Color from black and white, renewed.
Sitting behind the pane watching the world change itself
The light ignites the bright green leaves
that many capture in painted rhapsody.
Justice is never done to the reality of morning,
the day beginning right before your eyes.
Stay still long enough to see hydrangeas sway
the sun pouring over every petal
til the bunch is drowning in dawn.
See the faint moon disappear into the milky blue sky
and the sun shine over the place you call home.
Then move toward the sounds of life in another room.
